Adam Markowitz, veteran software engineer, founded Aire Software in 2009. Besides his daily dose of software development, Adam loves martial arts—specifically Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Traditional Okinawan Karate. He also performs and teaches flamenco guitar.
1. What is your favorite aspect of coworking?
The social networking associated with coworking, it’s a benefit to having an inexpensive office space and be provided opportunities to network. It’s also great to distinguish work life from home life.
2. What has been being your greatest challenge (being an entrepreneur)?
Starting a business in 2009. The economy had crumbled and it was not a good time to start a business. I had a difficult time outreaching to new contacts. Luckily I had made a lot of contacts from previous work.
3. What is your favorite thing about Santa Cruz?
There are many things to love about Santa Cruz but if I had to pick something other than our geographic location, I would say the people. There are some great people in santa cruz.
4. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would want to be invincible. To be mortal is up for debate, along with aging.
5. What advice can you offer others following in your footsteps?
Don’t…just kidding. I would say don’t do it for the money, do it because you enjoy it, then hopefully money will come.
