Frequently asked questions

What is a Plume Pod
A Plume Pod is a device that extends the WiFi signal throughout your home, ensuring a strong and reliable connection in every corner of your house. It connects to your Cruzio Internet service and enhances the wireless network throughout your home.

How many Plume Pods do I need?
Depends on the size of your home and your WiFi coverage needs. A good rule of thumb is to have at least one Plume Pod per 1,000 square feet of space. If you’re like us and you don’t know the square footage of your place off the top of your head, one pod per bedroom is another good little trick. We recommend discussing your specific needs with our team. We can help you determine the right number of devices for your home.

OK, how much?
Super simple: $9.99 per unit, per month, on top of your Cruzio Internet service subscription.

How do these things work?
The Pods work by communicating with each other to create a mesh network, which extends the WiFi signal throughout your home. Each Plume Pod acts as a node in the network, relaying the signal from the modem or router to other devices in the home.

Will the Pods improve my WiFi Experience?
Plume Pods use advanced adaptive WIFi technology to optimize your WiFi network for each individual device and its specific needs. This ensures that your devices always get the best possible connection, no matter where you are in your home. Plume Pods also provide seamless roaming, meaning your devices can move around your home without ever losing their connection to the network.

Can I use my own networking equipment with Cruzio’s internet service?
Yes, you can use your own networking equipment with Cruzio’s internet service. However, if you choose to use your own equipment, Cruzio support may be limited if you experience any issues with your home network.

More Technical Information:

How does the technology in Plume Pods differ from other Wifi extenders or boosters?
Plume Pods use a mesh networking technology, which is different from traditional WiFi extenders or boosters. With mesh networking, each Plume Pod acts as a node in the network, communicating with the other Pods to provide a seamless and consistent WiFi signal throughout your home. This is different from traditional extenders or boosters, which simply amplify your existing WiFi signal and can create more interference in your network.

Can Plume Pods help in crowded WiFi environments like apartments?
Yes, absolutely. Plume Pods can help improve WiFi performance in crowded environments like apartments and townhomes that often experience WiFi interference. Plume Pods use advanced Adaptive WiFi technology that constantly monitors your network and adjusts the signal strength and channel settings to optimize performance in real-time. Plume Pods also have access to a cloud-based network management system that can detect interference from other networks and devices, and adjust your WiFi network settings accordingly.

Are Plume Pods compatible with all types of devices?
Yes, Plume Pods are compatible with all types of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and more. Plume Pods support all WiFi standards and frequencies, from 802.11a to 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6)

How secure is the Plume network?
Plume uses advanced security features to protect your network and your devices. Each Plume Pod has built-in security features such as WPA3 encryption, automatic firmware updates, and advanced threat detection. Plume also offers advanced security features such as threat protection, ad blocking, and content filtering through its HomePass application.

How do I troubleshoot any issues with my Plume Pods?
If you experience any issues with your network or Plume Pods, the first step is to check the HomePass app for any alerts or notifications. The app will often suggest solutions to common issues, such as moving a Pod to a different location or resetting the network. If the issue persists, you can contact our customer support team for further assistance.

Do Plume Pods come with a warranty?
One benefit of renting hardware from Cruzio is we offer a lifetime guarantee for our Plume Pods, as long as you continue to subscribe to our service. If your Plume Pods experience any issues, we’ll replace them free of charge and handle any necessary RMAs ourselves.
